Amate

The Amate paper goes back to prehispanic times and its technique of production is maintained until today: the Amatl bark is cooked with the lime and ashes, and then is flatten in order to form sheets that are dried in the sun. Once the sheets are ready, the artisans use them as canvas for painting any kind of scenes like popular festivals, flora, fauna and legends.
